So this is what I had to see when I looked out my window five minutes ago. What did I do? I saved the dumb bird. I put a plastic bag over my skateboard and tried to nudge the bird from far away. That didn't work. So I put the plastic bag on my hand and basically picked up the bird to an angle where it could free itself. Its wing was stuck pretty good. It limped away from me and is now recovering in the opposite end of the fire escape.
I'm pleased to report that the orphaned pigeon that seems to not know how to fly or feed itself, has been watched closely these past couple of days by another bird I'm guessing is its mother. The older bird seems very careful, especially since every time I look out my window to check up on them it flies up to the roof.
So far, three birds have died on my fire escape. After cleaning up the first dead bird, the man the landlord hires to clean the apartment building basically stopped cleaning the fire escape. The man gets paid to take care of this building but all he does is takes out the trash cans on Wednesday. How annoying. Sometimes he even forgets to close the garage door or the front gate. Ugh.
